What is WebRTC?
WebRTC (Web Real Time Communication) is a free, open source project that provides web browsers and mobile applications with real time communication (RTC) via simple application programming interfaces (API’s). It allows audio and video communication to work inside web pages by allowing direct peer to peer communication, eliminating the need to install plugins or download native apps. Supported by Google, Microsoft, Mozilla and Opera, WebRTC is being standardised through the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).
Advantages of WebRTC
WebRTC allows users to integrate audio, video and text based chat directly from an application or website without the need for a special app, plugin or software installation. WebRTC can be implemented within your system and can be easily modified to fit the specific needs of your organisation.
Security of communication is high on the priority list for any company. WebRTC uses Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol (SRTP) in its code to protect media and ensure that IP communications are kept private. All data transferred with WebRTC is encrypted using the Datagram Transport Layer Security (DTLS) protocol, ensuring security for all participants.
Enjoy clean, high quality audio and video calling using WebRTC. Connect with colleagues, customers and prospects and keep your audience engaged, regardless of their location, by utilising the ability to instantly share information, images and documents in real-time.
By using WebRTC, you can improve customer relationships and experiences by instantly connecting customers and prospects with your employees. Incorporating WebRTC into your organisation can help your team to increase sales and provide client support.
As WebRTC is a protocol that can be easily integrated, and can be used on any device that runs a modern web browser, it doesn’t require subscription fees, software licensing or staff training. Using WebRTC based communications in favour of standard phone lines can also help to reduce ongoing costs.
